EU-Philippines TRTA Terms of Reference

The TRTA Programme
 

The EU-RP TRTA is a €3.92M two-year programme funded by EU. The programme intends to assist the Philippines in building an enabling economic environment and enhance the conditions for international trade and investment. It also aims at improving access of the Philippine Exports to EU and increasing the confidence of EU in the quality and safety of Philippine products. Moreover, the programme intends to advance the knowledge and capacity of stakeholders in dealing with WTO and other international trade related issues.

The programme consists of four components implemented by different government agencies.

 
These are the technical Barriers to trade (TBT) under the Department of Trade and Industry- Bureau of Product Standards (DTI-BPS), the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) under the Department of Agriculture (DA), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), trade Facilitation and Customs under the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and WTO Capacity Building under Department of Trade and Industry – Bureau of Internal trade Relations (DTI-BITR) and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).

EU-TRTA AWARDS 10 KUKUM DRYERS TO COCONUT FARMERS
 

EU-TRTA embarked on a two-week mission on December 2006 to validate the proposed recipients of the kukum dryers from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA). The proposed recipients are farmer-cooperatives. Ten cooperatives qualify as recipients of the dryer.

TRTA CONDUCTS 8TH AND 9TH TRAINING FOR FARMERS AND STAKEHOLDERS
 
In a bid to extend greater assistance to food and feed manufacturing sector, TRTA conducted its twin training on copra drying for the coconut farmers and good manufacturing practices (GMP) and hazard analysis critical control points (HACCP).

This presentation was done in a 3-day harmonisation workshop in Cebu City in January 2007 which was participated in BFAR officials, the industry sector, and other government agencies involved in inspection and enforcement measures for food and feed trade. EML
