To enhance current understanding of the sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) requirements in food and feed safety, the TRTA programme funds the participation of Filipino official in international standard setting bodies, such as the Codex Alimentarius. For 2006, the programme will fund five officials from the PCA, BFAR and DA in Codex Committee meetings (see table below).

Participants in Codex meetings will enable the Philippines to strengthen safety control systems in food and feed and harmonise food standards with the recommendations, guidelines and code of practices of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (source: FA No Asia/2004/16781).
